OLDYELLOW Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 woodcocks are nocturnal birds look at crap on R.S.P.B why woodcock in decline , think they need to look at the percy numbers again lack of habitat my ( as Jim Royal would say ) http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/w/woodcock/index.aspx
sammy Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 about a mile or so there is quite a big forest woodcock are forrest dwelling birds and normally on ground and find it a bit strange a perigrine taking prey at night :-/unless it was hand fed it ????
Guest IB Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 that video is disturbing. it looks like the woodcock is STILL ALIVE and BEEN EATEN ALIVE Agree with you, 20-odd seconds was my limit. Thought they decapitated, that one did seem to be pinching spinal column behind the head, but did expect that would start death throws? Maybes movement was that?
Guest IB Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 woodcock are forrest dwelling birds and normally on ground and find it a bit strange a perigrine taking prey at night :-/unless it was hand fed it ???? Wondered same Sammy. Few birds fly after dark?
Guest bigda Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 happy to know the hen is still active and not down on eggs yet, but will be fattning up hope to find her some thing to eat, racing pigeons are no good as she cant catch them, wonder what to give her, must see if i can catch a streeter as nobody bothers much about them getting killed, after all there loads of them, as every one says they are only fling rats
Guest shadow Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 that video is disturbing. it looks like the woodcock is STILL ALIVE and BEEN EATEN ALIVE ALL hawks eat their prey ALIVE :(
