Dunky Posted April 3, 2010 Report Posted April 3, 2010 Like the theory & I see your line of reasoning. Bit like playing away from home, if you use a condom it doesn't count eh!
Guest IB Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 I can sympathise with you mate, I'm just starting up this year & have had a cat problem for the last 2 weeks. It's taken 2 of my flying out stock birds & today snatched a youngster out of the air as it took off from the lawn. Really is a kick in the teeth as I'm only just trying to form my first team of youngsters to race this year. So many roof tops & overgrown gardens about here I don't have a clue where it comes from. What are the legalities regarding the actions I can take?. I know what I'd like to do to it, but my garden is overlooked by too many neighbours. A mate of mine told me that as a cat is not classed as a domestic animal there is no law preventing you from trapping one as long as you release it again (doesn't say where). Does anyone know if this is right?. I'd be interested in your comments, thanks Ian Member Bakes on here had a neighbour's cat kill one of his birds, and was compensated the cost of the bird. You don't know who this cat belongs to or even if it is a domestic cat, does it have a collar? If it was feral, I think you should be able to do something about that, and if you did trap it, my advice would be to call RSPCA with details and have them come to collect it to stop it preying on your pigeons; if it was feral they may put it down; if it was domestic and not being looked after properly, they may trace its owners and charge them with neglect. That's what RSPCA is there for, to prevent cruelty to animals: in this case pigeons and cats. Time we started putting them to good use.
bewted Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 IB,,,,,,,RSPCA will not put feral cat down as know that in my area they will doctor it to stop it breeding and if cat is or seem to be healthy enough will return it to the original place where gone feral, that is the policy of rspca here, dont know if other places are same !
