On a happier note - one that got away

Just had a stray yearling hen picked up by its owner, a member of another club in my Fed. Remarkable story. He trained from Forth Bridge, around 20 miles to us, on Monday night after work, and his birds were attacked by two peregrines. Before he could reach it in the field, he had a bird killed there on the ground and it was carried off. The second peregrine chased this yearling hen. Last he saw, she was gaining height with the peregrine giving chase right behind it. When it failed to return Tuesday morning, he thought it had been killed too, till Secy phoned him last night.

His hen dropped into me yesterday morning. She was completely flown out, hungry, but unhurt.
