i believe the energy value in slimfast is like gluecose, its an instant value, so would'nt be any good for racing pigeons, as u would have to give it to them just before liberation,

have you read what is in slimfast it has just about every vitimin & mineral content in it as all the so called top pigeon products ---- i know a guy and hes a very well known good flyer he used it one year on a sat & sun to get his birds back up after the race

Might look good for pigeons at first glance, but all those vitamins and minerals are in concentrations meant for a mammal - and a pretty heavy one at that looking to reduce weight.

Got a right telling-off from sales assistant in Holland & Barratt and told much the same when on the strength of advice on this forum, went in to see what they had in the way of a liquid multivitimin - for the birds.

As a simple pick-me-up after a race, I tried glucose in the drinker with YBs this year. Had toyed with idea of honey but knew it was hard to get it to dissolve. Bit in BHW put me on track, teaspoonful of cider vinegar to tablespoonful of honey in 500ml of boiled water, and it dissolves, then top up with tap water [i added 1.5L for 2L drinker]. Didn't do the 1st race and not happy with recovery, did remaining races and huge improvement.
