natural darkness system

Can anyone please give me some advice on the natural darkness system. I want to pair my pigeons up in December. When will they start to moult? I have always done the darkness system.

as long as you pair up b4 the 16th december they'll be fine,they will get about 7 races into the b4 they'll go to bits, we did it last year found it ok but went bk to the darkness this year, paired up in jan instead but is very good if you can't be there to put them on the darkness

Thanks for your advice. We get our rings about 5th Jan.  I do find it hard to get back for the darkness system. Thanks
