paul10121968 Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 hello everyone.a few months ago i joined this site as a ex-fancier starting back up after 22 years away from the fancy, starting from scratch again has been a real challenge but its all coming together now.the loft built, the birds sorted(thanks for everyone who helped) and the young birds bred,i am now starting to train my first round of ten youngsters.shortly after weaning i placed the youngsters in a basket at various points in the garden where they could see the loft and their close surroundings.even though they had a good look around i still had three spend the night out on the tiles on their first day out, they were more than happy to come in the next day though.their exercising well now for about 10-15 mins and starting to form a small group when flying.the only minus is that two are landing on the roof of my house and staying up there for about 10 mins before they come down, they are younger than the others and i do keep to a strict feeding regeim,so a few times going without a feed will soon change their minds about coming straight in.i will have another nine ready in about 2 weeks.i am aiming for about 27 in total which isnt many i know but it is my first yb season for 23 years so it doesnt hurt to take it easy at this stage.i plan to have some fun this year, trying just a few selected races, that way i should have some good yearlings for next season.how are the rest of you getting on with your young birds.paul
