THE FIFER Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 click on photo to make it larger, I would say if its a youngster it could go more grey- silver, SILVER MEALY, or stay with the dark gray and maybe an OPAL BLUE.

Lennut Tar Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 mosaic Correct !!!!!!!!, one of the greatest/best families of birds I've ever seen in my time were the Harrisons etc & they quite often threw up mosiacs at times over the years here (100) from when they were first imported around 1907/8 by Max Foy, from George Harrison of Oakamoor Staffs (Where ever that is) ;) & the hen of his no 1 pair etc was a mosaic. Now !!!!!!!! For all you purists "LMFAO" 2 traits which they were well known for etc, even today. Are, 1 - Weak backs & 2 - Wide tails, so there you go & make of it, what you may ;D ;D ;D. Enjoy.
red schalie Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Looks like a red schalie another description that fits well is slatey red! The feathers appear to be quite badly fretted this causes the light markings across the feather webbing. This bird is probably a janssen based bird. The red schalie blood in my family all descend from a famous breeder called Schalie Bange (red schalie cock) owned by Haywood lofts he was direct from the Ponderosa Janssens through Olympiad Bange in the seventies. Weak backs and wide tails not a characteristic of my family! Regards Bob Pickering

vanvaizey Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 I have some the same colour and asked the question on another website. The only answers I got was maybe Opal maybe Mosiac or Silver. I lost a young bird just like that this year and the mother is similar but not so much red in it.
