Hi

To win a young bird national what do you need, good birds, experience, I do not think so, a little help from an experience fancier,

If you pair up the 4th Dec, Eggs on the 14ths Dec, Y/bs, on the 2nd Jan, Part on the 26th Jan, Y/bs do not need to be on the Dark, Y/bs will be through the Moult for the Young Bird National, I was 1st and 2nd Perth y/b 328 Miles on this system, Only pair your stock birds up early, Distance birds from 1st feb

All the best

John its only common sense that you dont need to be on the dark as your young birds will be on natural darkness, Spence & Nichols, and Ronnie Bigwood done this for years, however it doesnt mean it will win you a national, there are many ways to keep your birds with a complete wing, darkness, light and as you stated pairing before december the 10th. However many people swear by now having young hatching xmas day and a tub of vaseline in the loft to slip there rings
