pault Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 just been informed no marking on Friday night for the Liverpool amal marking on Saturday for Sunday race
pault Posted May 15, 2008 Author Report Posted May 15, 2008 vic do you think they have jumped the gun a bit
Guest Vic Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 Paul, judging by the forecast, I'd say they have done the right thing.
kingy1975 Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 vic can i ask who informed you there would be no race marking friday night because i have noticed your message was posted at 6.35 pm yesterday when a decision was only made at 7.35pm last night after a phone round of the vice presidents between 7.10 and 7.30 when we then informed the amal secretary at 7.35pm. im not being argumentative but if we deciced after the phone around to stick to friday night then whover give you the rumour would have been wrong and caused confusion. cheers
pault Posted May 16, 2008 Author Report Posted May 16, 2008 hi paul i put the post on just after i was told by the roby flying club sec
johnny11 Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 Hi Lads Are you at Portland? If so why has the Amal still pulled out of the Combine???? John
pault Posted May 16, 2008 Author Report Posted May 16, 2008 Hi Lads Are you at Portland? If so why has the Amal still pulled out of the Combine???? John hi john yes we are at portland about the combine god know john but i have no idea?
johnny11 Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 Paul Surely the lure of racing against 10,000 plus pigeons would be a big one especially considering they are going to the same place on the same day. The mind boggles
kingy1975 Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 sorry vic it appears my time settings are wrong it shows the post being put on at 6.30pm cheers. and to the guy asking wether we are with the combine the answer is no and this is simply down to democracy the clubs voted against it.
johnny11 Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 Hi Kingy Take your valid point about democracy, without trying to sound like im having a go (which im not) what were the reasons behind this (at your club). john
Guest Vic Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 John, I should imagine that Worrall & Crowe in the east, and Jones and Thomas in the west, plus some handy lofts in Southport/Ormskirk, may have something to do with it . One of Tarletons famous sayings, when racing in the Amal. "Don't let the tail wag the dog" As somebody commented last year;- "The small dogs are doing all the yapping" lol . Vic.
