Guest Owen Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Just a bit more info for you all. The Hanbury Arms lost about 1/3 of their pigeons.
Guest strapper Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 we had good returns in our club bar one member...but those members with good returns had bad ones other weeks.
Guest Owen Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 I have been speaking to a guy that flew with the Newport Club last Sunday. He told me that he lost 14 from 18 pigeons and that he knows that the losses for some of his Clubmates were as bad. So if you had good returns at Aber, Paul, you were amongst the few Clubs that did, I would think. I would like to know the truth of all this but I have no idea how we could get accurate figures. Without doubt, there will be Fanciers who had them all back and there will be Fanciers who did very badly. I was lucky because I sent 12 and dropped 1. But then I lost 7 a couple of weeks ago. I know that this subject is going on a bit now, but I think that it is serious enough to warrant the coverage. I still have not heard anything from the Fed officials. Which I think is a shame because I think that they should try to tell us what they think has happened. Fair play to Tommy Harris, he at least entered into the discussion and tried to deal with the comments that were made. And if I know Tommy at all, he will follow up on what has been said, and try to find a solution to the discontent that now exists.

Guest Owen Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Well Tom I am sorry that you and Terry have decided to pack it in. I have known Terry Tremeer for nearly 50 years and at one stage we worked for the same Company. I have always found Terry to be as straight as they come. Forthright, but straight. I, together with some others I have spoken to, was hoping that we could have had a proper enquiry into the events of last Sunday. No doubt, mistakes could have been made, but I am sure that if that were the case they would have occured as a result of people trying to do their best to give us good racing. But I have to say that the rank and file members should be given basic information about the races as a matter of course. In these days of computers and mobile phones there is no excuse for lack of communication at any level. I think we have to consider that it may be impossible to achieve consistantly good races on the East to West route. There are just too many Feds cutting accross us. If my view is shared by a majorty of Welsh Fanciers, why don't we make the changes and move on. Surely it would be wrong to carry on living with the losses that this route imposes on our young birds. Terry told me that he was concerned about the numbers of birds with young bird sickness entered into the races. He said that these sick birds, together with untrained birds, were a major reason why the Swindon races were so bad. Well if that is the case why don't we do something about it. It is the same with wing stamps and vaccination records. Why can't we see to it that these things are done properly, because we know they are not now. Finally, I must say that I regret the fact that both you and Terry have decided to stand down, I am truly sorry to hear it.
