Shogun Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 Do we have a member from Taiwan? Or someone who can read and understand Taiwanese websites. I need help in tracing bloodlines of Taiwan birds. Most interested in the KLPR banded Taiwan birds. I went to the KLPR website but wouldn't do me any good because I can't read Taiwanese. I am now inclined to breed the Taiwan birds because I believe they were bred to be advantageous to Philippine weather conditions. Their race conditions are similar to what we have here. Thanks in advance.
Guest Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 You could try a free translation website. Don't know which Chinese dialect Taiwan speaks, but this website gives two Chinese / English translations, though which is Mandarin and which is Peking I can't tell: http://world.altavista.com/ You may be able to find one which gives other language translations too, but remember that much of the meaning can be lost in translation and some words may not translate or translate well.. for example I did a Dutch / English recently and kept getting 'mail studs' . . which I think were supposed to be 'cock pigeons' !!!
Shogun Posted November 13, 2005 Author Report Posted November 13, 2005 Thanks a lot, bruno. I used the Traditional Chinese translation and was able to understand a few Most of the translations are so hard to undestand he he he. Even then, better than nothing.
Guest slugmonkey Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 The Tiwanese buy good birds you will find most are from European stock I think that the problem is that a lot of there pedigrees are translated from other languages into their dialect and those arent very accurate Just a theory!!
Shogun Posted November 15, 2005 Author Report Posted November 15, 2005 Yes I've read a lot about the Taiwanese not scrimping on their money when acquiring top birds from Europe and elsewhere. I have also read how they conduct their races and how much money is involved. They are really dead serious when it comes to pigeon racing. Problem is how to check on pedigrees of Taiwan birds. I have 2 birds banded KLPR and don't know where to check on them. A search will yield birds being sold with the same band. But other than pics, no more info can be found.
Guest slugmonkey Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 You might ask Mike Ganus I am sure he would know
