THEMAN Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 What is the farthest race that your club does, and how far do you send your yb's and how far do you send your ob's? In our club our races are from 100-600mi. for ob's and 100-400 for ybs. Everyone is in up untill the 400 for ob's then there is a steep drop off maybe only 9 out of 30 flyers go to the 600. The reason I ask is that I noticed in the training thread that often folks dont train out beyond 30mi? Just curious.
Guest Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 I would normally race my young hens on the full programme, but stop the cocks once they have reached 200miles (didnt this year as I went on holiday so all were stopped after 3 races), then as yearlings they are raced every week up to 350miles (350 miles to my loft is a channel race), then the yearlings are kept inland every other week. My two year olds dont start racing until the races reach 150 mile and then are expecting to fly 400-450 miles, but they wont go to our longest race which is 550miles until they are 3years and above.
