Guest Blue Pied Cock Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Hi All, All stock pairs have gone down fine apart from one, they are both yearlings and are showing no interest at all. I have even given them a whole six foot section on their own but still no joy, does anybody have any ideas on what to try next i really want these to go together or i would just swap the pairings. Many thanks.
Guest strapper Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 theres a few points...are the birds being over fed? are the birds late bred in 2008? is there a factor why the birds wont go down like mice/rats/cats etc. and this may sound silly but are they the same sex? if you have a spare cock place him in the compartment and see what the other birds do..this will either make the cock thats already in there protect the hen or...be wary that this new cock is gonna tread his hen. this may put his rrrsss into action , see what happens , im sure they will eventually go down if the same sex.
Guest WINGS 04 Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 I would split them up for 3 days then try them put the cock in his box shut in and feed in box and the hen on its on
Guest Blue Pied Cock Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Cheers Strapper, I have let another cock bird into the section with the pair, straight away the two cock birds started fighting on the loft floor. The hen bird seemed to react to this so left them for 5 minutes then removed the cock. two hours later the pair were together in the nest bowl, job done. Many thanks.
Guest Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Glad you got them sorted Blue Pied. and well done Strapper for helping this guy out :) :)
