BUILDING YOUR OWN STRAIN OF PIGEONS

HI i would like some advice on building am own strain of birds frist ans formost i know the basket will be the judge of what will stay i have an good base janssens from some quilty pigeons a lot are proven ive been reading a lot and now i want to introduce some different blood lines but dont know what does any one have any advice ideas what to introduce breeding method bloodlines i would be most greatfull i want compete from 50 mile to 450 miles with just an small team thanks compo

by janssens do you mean pure janssens or janssens in form of de klaks etc,

i would always suggest van loons to cross with janssens and de klaks may be also meulemans

its up to you really your presonal preference and what works for you

i would say go to the best flier in your area, try and aquire some latebreds and try as much as possible to find out his ways,,,then breed from there, it may take time but it would be worth it,,only my opinion

if i was building my own strain id make sure id build a gene pool meaning that in every generation no mater what if you go back,sire to great great grandsire there is a winner in every box and that way im sure if you can write out a pedigree with winners on every line you wont go far wrong from building your own strain

gerrard schlepphorst of west germany swore by the jan aarden pigeons to go into the janssen pigeon with very good results,then crossing them back into the janssen or jan aarden.i know a good fancier who does this with very good results alway up to national level.

ive been told it takes years to build a family the only fancier i know of that has there own family is jimmy white i would cross a distance pigeon into them or a middle distance.
