Guest shadow Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 This family must have a lot of blue grizzles in their background
Guest beautyhomer Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 Speight, The black and white marked birds are tiger grizzles. For the best breeding results you should allways pair a tiger to a black(spread). Please see the board on breeding grizzles in fancy pigeons. Regards Andrew

Your brown pigeon must have from the Dark check's lines from grand grand father's brown.

Guest Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 My mate have a pair of Mealy pied x White Raido Busschaert, breeding nice colours.
Guest beautyhomer Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 westy, Looking at the photo of brownie he is in fact a ASH RED CHEQUER and not brown, allthough I agree they look more brown than red (especially juveniles). If he is from a WHITE X DARK CHEQ then he got the ASH RED gene from the WHITE parent and not the DARK CHEQ as previously stated. ASH RED is a dominant gene so the DARK CHEQ cannot be carrying this gene,if a pigeon has this gene it has to express it, ie it is a red pigeon. WHITE is not a colour in the true sense, but a masking gene.To find out the true colour of a white pigeon you have to do a test mating like you have done.As brownie is a red pigeon then the WHITE is in fact a ASH RED also. Regards Andrew
MsPigeon Posted November 28, 2005 Report Posted November 28, 2005 Speight, the Black and White pair above look exactly like a pair I bred Domino type birds from last year. I have a family of whites and a family of blacks and last year when the pairs where all mated I had a black and white left, so I put them together and got beautiful sought after babies. I raced the ones I kept, they did well on tough races, and bred a couple late rounds for others who admired and wanted them. I also sent a round off them to a beginner in the "Help a Beginner" program. Carol

symbro Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 looking at the pair white cock and black hen. the white cock looks like it is recessive white. unfortunately that could be hidding lots of other factors. then you have the blue spread hen. after seeing a few babies i could start to tell you what factors are hidden under each. should be some intersting babies. i bet you get what they call milky's... just a red bird with spread. spread takes the tail bar colour and puts it all over the bird. it is also possible that the hen has two spread genes. that would make all your babies spreads. the white could be have pied in its genes... like i said you should get some interesting babies.
