tedweb Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 hello I live on the north west coast of tasmania(Aus) and have been breeding pigeons for three seasons. I borrowed several breeders and have now 5o home bred birds. The racing season here starts in may so I am anxious to see how they go. We have a problem here with hawks and I have already lost 3 birds while training. Over half of my birds are predominantly white and that might not be a good thing avoiding being hit. I would be interested to know how far pigeons should be trained from for races 200 plus KM...most of the races are across bass Strait from Victoria. cheers ted
Guest shadow Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 I would train your birds out to at least 30 miles two or three days a week from all directions of the compass and when racing starts train twice per week from 20 miles on the line of flight
