hello

I live on the north west coast of tasmania(Aus) and have been breeding pigeons for three seasons. I borrowed several breeders and have now 5o home bred birds. The racing season here starts in may so I am anxious to see how they go. We have a problem here with hawks and I have already lost 3 birds while training. Over half of my birds are predominantly white and that might not be a good thing avoiding being hit. I would be interested to know how far pigeons should be trained from for races 200 plus KM...most of the races are across bass Strait from Victoria.

cheers

I would train your birds out to at least 30 miles two  or three days a week from all directions of the compass and when racing starts train twice per week from 20 miles on the line of flight :)
