tedweb Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 gday As a beginner I am learning a lot from your replies...thanks heaps. I have started feeding my birds only in the evening and I have my birds bursting to get through the yankee trap and into the loft. having experienced problems getting the birds in previously I am thinking about feeding them only in the afternoon permantly. Providing they get sufficient feed( ie 30 - 40 g a day) is there any problem with feeding them once a day instead of the more traditional two times. I would really appreciate your replies and suggestions Cheers Ted
Guest slugmonkey Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 as long as they are getting plenty of food it dosent matter I personally feed 2 times a day I think it keeps my birds in better shape for racing in the off season I have food down continous with lots of open loft
Beanz Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 I only feed once per day but I do give them a small amount of seed in the morning, hasn't done them any harm they still win.

I would suggest only feeding them after they come in from their morning flight time those that do not trap do not eat that day, second day they will be first in..... If you feed at night they will not be hungry first thing in the morning and they will not fly as well. I would never leave feed in the loft through out the day as it usually will cause trapping problems. My thoughts anyway. Good luck. Ed
dragons lair Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 What do you feed your Yb's at this time of the year. Here in Mn it is still pretty cold. Start of a snow storm right now. I am also wondering about safflower (spelling) how much do you feed and when. I am feeding to my breeders and Yb's right now.
