Guest CS Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 is it 1 pedigree 2 performance 3 breeding record ? what would you look for in pedigree ? what performances would you base your judgement on ? how many young birds would you breed from this pairing ? how long would you judge them

Wiley Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 is it 1 pedigree 2 performance 3 breeding record ? what would you look for in pedigree ? what performances would you base your judgement on ? how many young birds would you breed from this pairing ? how long would you judge them I look for all 3 that you have listed, in the pedigree i look for winners in every generation, particular the parents, "The apple never falls to far from the tree", They have 3 years to breed winners, if not there out.
Guest Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 the ones that onsistently breed the winners ;D ;D
Beanz Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 If its a stock pigeon then surely its got to be its breeding record, because it does not matter about the other two, obviously its nice if it has all three but at the end of the day its there to breed winners, if it has the other two but does not breed good pigeons then its no good as a stock bird.
Guest Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 For me a stock bird is a bird that breeds winners from the distance you want to compete at. Thats what a stock bird is for. No point in the bird having a great pedigree full of winning pigeons if it is unable to pass on these 'winning genes'. So a real stock bird has a kinda reverse pedigree surely - details of performances of pigeons that this bird has bred - not what bred it.
schouwman71 Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 i only like 1 type of stock bird and that is been able to breed top quality pigeons that are capable of winning races on what ever distance you specialise in,and even better if there youngsters breed winners aswell,to me its no good if you carnt breed winners into its next generation, now thats were the pedigree comes in to look back to see how its parents g,parent g,g,parents have bred, its no good just saying ime only interested in the 1 pigeon you have to breed winners has you get so many that will breed the winners put its children wont breed winners,a real breeder should be able to carry on its winning genes far down the lines as possible, now thats what i call a stock bird.Les
jimmy white Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 the ones that consistently breed the winners ;D ;D i think that says it all for me,, but harder to find than what fanciers think sometimes
