jimmy white Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 ;D thanks for the above tips , keep em coming , any relevant to youngbirds ???? andy a young bird sitting two babies ,,, if it works?, put the eggs back after return from race , do the same the next week , sometimes this can be repeated a few times with the same yb,s if its just perches you have in your yb section,, on a friday try a few ply boards against the wall,on the floor maybe about 2ft long 1 ft high a few nest bowls with shavings or twigs in them , youll find all the young cocks and hens in and out them and actualy get a bit jealous of each other,, repeated every week ,they get the hang of it and it can make them keen ,after the race lift all boards and shavings etc till the next friday
jimmy white Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 one simple tip is ,,if you have a bird with a bent flight feather, is to boil the kettle or pan , hold the fractured flight over the hot steam , hey presto , ;D watch it straighten out like magic ;D
Guest slugmonkey Posted August 4, 2007 Report Posted August 4, 2007 On sprint I move race birds to another loft ealier in the day and feed and water there it makes it seem as though they been gone longer I picked this one up from Ganus
Back garden fancier Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 If racing young birds to the perch, on Friday have one less perch than there are pigeons. They'll fly home fast to get a perch!
