;) ;)How would you select youngsters to keep for next year ?? performance ? breeding ? type or character ?  any posotive answers welcomed . thank you in advance .........                                                                              andy

have to be on performance, breeding does not guarantee u anything

performance, however if you know certain families mature later like some do at 2 yrs old, i would keep hold of them. But performance is the most important and its also about knowing your birds.

if all young birds have raced to 100 miles and home in good time they deserve a place for next year, its not always the yb winners that make the best yearlings more often than not its the consistent pigeons they are the ones to look for.

I keep a track of their health over the year and see how well they cope with different task, i.e. training, loft flying, racing and the moult etc, any that struggle, are the ones to go normally, but its very rare that any do go as i dont breed many.

 

With all the obstacles that they face these days, any that are still there have done well in my eyes  ;D
