Guest TAMMY_1 Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 have to be on performance, breeding does not guarantee u anything
Wiley Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 performance, however if you know certain families mature later like some do at 2 yrs old, i would keep hold of them. But performance is the most important and its also about knowing your birds.
deanbruton Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 if all young birds have raced to 100 miles and home in good time they deserve a place for next year, its not always the yb winners that make the best yearlings more often than not its the consistent pigeons they are the ones to look for.

stevebelbin Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 I keep a track of their health over the year and see how well they cope with different task, i.e. training, loft flying, racing and the moult etc, any that struggle, are the ones to go normally, but its very rare that any do go as i dont breed many. With all the obstacles that they face these days, any that are still there have done well in my eyes ;D
Back garden fancier Posted August 15, 2007 Report Posted August 15, 2007 I agree! We had a smash this week, with some fanciers having only 10% of birds back. If they are in the loft at the end of the season then they've done their best, and deserve a place
xtccock Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 HI the youngsters should select themselves.......... if not you aint trying them, just the youngsters selecting you ??????????? think about it
