Van Den Bosh??

As you know I am getting geared up to start racing next year after keeping pigeons for over 17 year.

 

I am abit wet when it comes to names but I've been offered 2 pairs of Janseens Van den Bosh (i think thats how its spelt!)...with papers from a guy I am affiliated with who is somewhat  an authority on pigeons.

 

Are these sprint / middle distance / or distance birds......a bit more info please if anyone has any......they are beatiful gay pied birds...infact I'd go as far as to sat that cock birds are amongst the most powerfull and handsome as I've seen.

They are Sprint to Middle Distance Birds. I have had them fly 565 miles mind, but predominantly, they are sprint to middle distance!

i havesome but not yet tried them racing but i win alot of prizes in the shows with them lol my friend who bred them for me wins a lot with them and they win a lot for his mates in plymouth here is a pic of my two cocks

Yes mate, really well! I haven't got as many as i had in the 80's, but flew 2nd last week with one! They have a tendency to throw chocolates out every once and a while, don't race them, put them in the stock loft and pair them to Blues with opposite coloured eyes to what the chocs have. When you get the pencil blues, these are what i've found do the racing! Like all strains though, there is as much crap as them all, but once you find the right ones, look out, cos' you are in for a sweet ride!

lAST SEASON i BOUGHT A PAIR OF VANDEBOSCH COCK BLUE BAR PIED,HEN MILY WITH ONE YELLOW EYE AND THE OTHER RED EYE.HAD THE OFFSPRINGS WITH VERY DARK EYES NEARLY BULL EYES.IS THIS NORMAL?

bought a pencil blue pied van den bosch   51st and 52cnd gold cup race rennes 555 miles approx ,,2 years on the trot   i didnt want the pedigree,,just the prize certificates

I know the chocolates race well also not just breed but davey is right , as with everything you have to have the right ones, but the right ones so to speak are not easy to get hold of..

 

we purchased ours from herman beverdam !!! in my opinion he has the best meulemans ( van den bosch) in the world !!!

I've had Chocolate pigeons, pure chocolates, since 1985. The only two decent racing Chocolates that I personally know of were:-

1. a pigeon in the Masters of the Art of Racing and Breeding Book, he was called "Simply Red!"

2. David Coward-Talbot and Mickey Harvey had a good one also, bred through De Rode Geplekte, a top class producer purchased direct from Karel Muelemans! I don't know of any other top class racing Chocolates. I do know of the Bronze coloured chocolate schallie type birds racing well, and the pencil (chocolate splashed) blues. Personally, i have tried to race the chocolates, but with no success, all of the success i have had with them have been with breeding.

I owned a son of the rode geplekte from coward talbot, he has bred some nice birds for me , i gave him to a friend . I have 5 chocolates in total and they are fantastic breeders but i also had to get rid of 10 that were not up to scratch shall we say.

 

good and bad in all colours and families i think...we must weed them out and keep only the good..

I had a son and a daughter. The cock never filled an egg, Mick kindly replaced him. Then hen was killed in the fire in September, along with the replacement cock, but i have children of the hen, when paired to sons of my Lovelock Hen, my best ever chocolate Mueleman. I scored a 2nd recently with a G/son of them when paired on to my Klak birds. They are good birds the ones through the De Rode Geplekte. I believe Karel Mueleman flew to England to buy him back from Mick some years ago, but Mick had the presence of mind to keep him. He was a super producer!

My very first winner was a VdB. Bred for me by Keith Holloway of warrington. She was a gay pied hen. This pigeon went on to breed 3rd open Scottish Central Combine. Good steady birds. You won't go far wrong.
