jimmy white Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 in the shorter races a mix with plenty carboheydrates [ light mix] [on widowhood ] as much as they want ,,,longer races 5-600 miles build up with plenty protein [heavier mix]
carlsberg Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 if it is a normal race .ie. basketing on friday liberated saturday then day of basketing i feed normal racing mix maybe 2ounces in the morning about 9.30 then in the afternoon about 3 they get about 1/2 ounce seed and maybe a few peanuts let them eat what they want for 10 mins then take their food pots away.

Wow, 2 ounces? That seems alot. I only feed my birds 1 once per day per bird. How much do you feed everyday? Does all this food get digested before liberation?
carlsberg Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 they only have 1 ounce a day except thursday 1+1/2 ounces then friday 2 ounces ,when they get liberated it is probably 16+ hours since they last got fed ,when they return from a race they are just as hungry
