Guest TAMMY_1 Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 After you have paired your birds together, well I just let my racers all go together and pair as they like, how soon after you have let them go together do you put a nestbowl in the box or do you place one in right from day 1 ?
carlsberg Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 i personally put 1 in straight away but thats just me
phillips Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 i always put nest bowls in after fives days as i find the birds only soil them up
Guest cloudview Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 yes from day one also it seems to settle the cock down a bit
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 i always put nest bowls in after fives days as i find the birds only soil them up this is roughly about same time as as I do for the same reason,
sammy Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 yes from day one also it seems to settle the cock down a bit thats what i do and think the same as a lot of yearling cocks can be sore on the hen but having the bowl in i have found that the cock will call his hen into the bowl instead of chasing her all over the loft
Guest valiant Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 i wait about 5 day and then put the nestbowl.
THE FIFER Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 as soon as i see the birds have taken i put the bowls in,
jimmy white Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 as soon as i see the birds have taken i put the bowls in, yes i do the same,, as soon as i see them coorie in [cuddle in] together , i think, in fact , it encourages them
Guest Hjaltland Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 i always put nest bowls in after fives days as i find the birds only soil them up This is what I find, so its usually five or six days
Guest karl adams Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 i put my bowls in when i see all the pairs have got there right box and settled down
Lennut Tar Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 i put my bowls in when i see all the pairs have got there right box and settled down I always place my bowls in the nest with pine needles & sand, before The pairs go in their box locked down etc. I think it's important to do it this way. Because it makes the pairings more enjoyable for the different pairs etc, than if they were just stuck in a box with a mate so to speak with nothing to fire them up sort of thing, for a few days. Of course ;D ;D ;D it all gets thrown out by the birds very quickly ;) But I don't really mind & I just replace it again & everyone is happy "Again". Enjoy.
Andkar Lofts Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 same as some of the others ,once birds settled together & cock crouched in corner ,calling hen ....put bowls in ...........
billy wilson Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 i put mine mine in after 5 days seems to be the most popular one no special reason just ive always done the same
Guest shadow Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 put the bowls in up side down when I pair up gives the hen somewhere to get away from the cock then turn them over when the crouch in the corners
Guest slugmonkey Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 I use paper nestbowls SOMETIMES I only put in a few and let the birds use them if they want, most times my birds will build nests with avaible materials
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 As I previously posted on here I always put mine in around 5 days but have seen a few good posts and reasons as to why putting them in earlier can be beneficial to settling birds quicker so it will be worth considering in the future.
