dodgy one that,,,,,,,,,once youve entered , your in it ?? but not knowing the full facts i should think an emergency meeting called by president of fed would decide

No. The pigeons were entered into the race. You can't go into the baskets to get your pigeons out, not any different from any other race. If it is technical and you cant get a race you will get your birds back. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long if there is not going to be a race. Also if you have mid  nat, why are you sending them on what could be a dodgy weekend.
