mark proctor Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 hi..could anyone tell me what shall i use for a young bird thats been pecked in the eye..its been like it 3 days now and seems to be getting worse...its not one eye cold cos its bone dry..its all swollen up at the bottom of her eye ..ive tried bathing it in warm milk which we used to use on our dogs years ago...also tried a wet tea bag which a fancier told me on another site..but nothings working yet...your thoughts...thanks guys...mark... ;)

Guest IB Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 Never heard of milk being used on a birds eye before, first thoughts that milk is full of bacteria, maybe make matters worse? Using cold tea seems better, tannin is a natural antiseptic, and soothes, never had to bathe an eye more than a couple of times though, and it usually responded well and the birds own tears etc did the rest.
