Opinions on fanciers removing ETS rings

i had a hen come in once 6 year old from steirling a rutter if i remmber right double rubbered from channel race she stayed night in morning she was hanging on front so let her out gone i had notified owner she was here he phoned she was home she did this to him every channel race but won so maney inland he kept pesecering now stock

Yes they do now old yellow but what about in 5  or 10 years time? Race rubbers are race rubbers end of story, if you can't afford to put a "rubber" on your doo without worring about the cost its time to pack it in I'm afraid.

 

0.2p for a rubber, if small minded squables broke out about the price of rubbers you could have the very same argument about printing ink and the increase of paper , one printed for birds entred then anothor for returns then a result on top , id expect my club members arent so small minded and will all be using ets in time as will i , it wont make birds fly faster you still have to get them home to win

All the best I am sure you will get a few thrills from your birds from a few inland races. Feel free to pm "me" for advice if you ever want to try long distance racing. And what I said was look after them and love them NOT MOLLYCODDLE THEM, don't put words into my mouth I am quite capable of speaking for myself.

 

i would not be ready for long distance racing for a few years yet mate,i want to get some time in flying the shorter distance stuff,when i am ready, i will ask you for any advice i can get,we fly north road so its club first ,then nrcc, i was not trying to put words in your mouth[most of the time i am to busy trying to my foot out of mine!!!!]as for the thrill bit how did you feel when you won your first race [regardless of distance] depressed?,i never "mollycoddle" my birds [the first bit of advice i got from jim renwick]

well me i want that feeling,like most guys i don't keep pigeons to depress the guys next store, i keep them to race,and despite any "skill" or lack of it ,you have got to belive you can win otherwise why bother?.maybe the arrogance of a novice not to sure,but time will tell,

when you have bird from dax internatinol then you can be proud when all so called expert flyers dont or 1 of only 12 on day from sansebastion on day or pau  chrisss then all the so called cliver ones dont comment it will come and be proud

yep i think they were based on the old osman[?] strain. large/med birds with wattles the size of belgium,mine are not "straights" anymore they are crossed with some winston noble and jock ellis,and a tiny bit of jim biss

what a lot of fanciers forget in being self rightous is they were novices once as well and we all still are you never stop learning in pigeons

Can't believe some of the posts on this thread.

 

Strag pigeons i.e those that are not capable of going home to their own lofts under their own steam, have traditionally been identified by doomen by removing their "rubber", so that the owner, presuming it ever managed to find its way home, could make an "informed" decision about their bird. The guy who removed your ETS "RUBBER" from your doo is doing you a favour. Or is the ets ring more valuable than the doo? Think about it!!

I have no idea of anything to do with raceing birds.but some of you on here will of read my storey about Honey,a bird i am fostering at the moment...she has an ets ring on .

 

Just a Q...why cant they be micro chiped like other pets.ie dogs??????.you wouldnt get people taking anything off then........it may be a silly Q ........i dont know, but it isnt an impossibility is it? just my ten penneth ;D..its not something i would fancy doing though.even though these birds have plenty of flesh on their body to do it.

 

By the way.Honey has gone walkabouts for now.........left at 7am yesterday morning and hasnt returned yet.....lets hope shes gone home eh...and not got lost or injured

Has any other fanciers had birds returned via the stray basket minus there E.T.S. ring,all birds returned to our club this week in Scotland, 6 in total all had their rings removed,this is totally un acceptable and if I find out who, I will take it all the way.ps I have decided to super glue rings on in future,so beware.
