Guest cloudview Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 you,ve got to to send it to quite a few short races , before the long ones , a gradual build and get some time on wing
Guest spin cycle Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 hi i am new to the sport i was wondering how to u no if a pigeon is ready to race a short race or a long race not 100% sure what your driving at... but you would 'train' the pigeon by taking it different places ( a little further each time)...then send it to some short races...then onto the longer races. pigeons must be 'fit'....so they should also excersize well around home. if they beat you home from a training toss then you on the right lines
Guest pigeonboyno1 Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 how far should your first training toss be
Guest spin cycle Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 this will vary from fancier to fancier. ybs i start at 5miles...then go up in 5 mile stages to 25 miles...i'm inexperienced at yb racing and suspect you have to train them alot and further. for oldbirds i start at 10 miles then go up to 25miles in 5 mile steps...then straight into races...as i don't train much i send them to every race i can to get as much experience as possible.
