retired Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D 1 or 2 chrisss..... ;D ;D ;D and the rest. With regards to your question Sam - I dont try to breed for colour i like the lottery i seem to have been getting by just pairing as i would normally do. My favourite grizzle cock (which is dark grizzle) has thrown a Cheq and another grizzle??

Guest Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 This is my Grizzle, So if i pair to a chequer hen i might get a Black Grizzle or Smokey Cheq's You will have to pair him to a black (spread blue) to breed black grizzles, they will produce approximately 50% grizzle and 50% non-grizzle. The percentage of blacks bred will depend on the genotype of the black; if it is homozygous (pure) for black/spread, all the young will be black or black grizzle, if the black is heterozygous (impure) for black/spread then the colour of the youngsters will be determined by the patterns (bar, chequer) masked by the black.
Guest IB Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 what like these? These are what I call Dark Grizzles. I've 2; the cock's parents are Dark Chequer C x Blue Grizzle H; and the dark grizzle cock when paired with BBH threw a dark grizzle hen much like those in your pic, but has no white bits around face and neck.
