it reduces the fluid content and will reduce the swelling! If you get another one then try it, give an appertex then 24hrs latter you will be able to turn the ring!

il try that if it ever happens again it dosent say on the appertex packet it does that

i have a pigeon whos leg swelled up and i had to cut its ring of is there any way this bird can be raced or is it the end of the road for him

forgive me if iam wrong but i cant believe that a pigeon club member even a new start could ask such a question you say hes won a race, to do that you must have been at the marking so you would see what has to take place so how could it possibly race as for micro chip how could a club opperating from a garage no lecky even do that very suspect!!!!!!!

Not only that Frank, would not most members notice a swollen leg or a marker at the club point it out when they struggle to turn the ring to read the number?

yes iv been at marking every week and know what goes on but if the microchip contained the birds original ring number of the bird why would it not work and a hand held microchip scanner can run of batteries and our club is not a garage

i think one thing has gone un mentioned... the life ring is an identity who this bird belongs too!..if a ets ring was on the bird instead of the life ring then once removed who can say whose bird it is.

im the same as frank...only a novice(no problem with that) would ask such a question wether he could race without the ring, cant imagine anyone who has been around pigeons for a while asking such a thing.
