Can`t see why you need a life ring nowadays, with an ets on its leg  why have a year ring, just threaten to take the RPRA to court(small claims) saying you will have to kill the bird if the union does not let you race it,you will drive a JCB through every rule in the book, and the RPRA will run for cover, try it,cost you peanuts£28 ,but could bankrupt RPRA within a short time. ;)

As gangster said can you not keep it in the stock loft

if i wanted him for stock he would already have been in the stock loft hes a racer  and what happens to racers when there no longer able to race

This maybe the case but ETS rings can be moved from bird to bird! With no life ring it could be a different bird going to the race each week flown under the same ring number!

HAS HE WON OUT IF SO BREED OF HIM

hes had 1 win and a few minor posisions in the club what would you suggest and does anyone know what might have caused his leg to swell there was no visible signs of injury apart from where the ring was digging in to his leg

So what??????   does it really matter????   an ETS ring is all that`s needed, life rings way out of datew, only reason the jokers in head office RPRA  let it continue is to pay their wages ,and wine and dining,on the backs of members who get ripped of paying over the odds for liferings.

just in the winter time

Some birds have larger legs than others, dust and dead skin can build up under the ring, dust and particles from shavings are worst until there is preasure on the leg which causes it to swell. You could have given the bird an appertex tablet which would have reduced the swelling then you would have been able to clean out under the ring with either a matchstick or darning needle and saved the need to remove the ring.
