think thats the most sensible thing you have ever said carol  :) :) :) Totally true  :P

I have my moments ;D ;D ;D

Having worked in the hospital (mental) no that is not where I found ######  ;) I think the problem is they are too clean in certain departments  and so called super bugs are able to thrive because they have mutated beyond the normal cleaning agents and will continue to do so the same as pigeon problems:-/

###### gets cuts, scratches, splinters and scrapes all the time from rusty nails, old reclaimed wood etc and never seems to get any infections  :-/

For me, the reason I would not buy from studs is that it is too much of a gamble. According to my calculations, you are likely to get a ration of 4:1 when you breed from performance birds. That's one good one, one average one and two clowns. When you breed from the next generation the expectancy goes to One good one, one average ones and six clowns. And so on. So according to me, if you enter the lottery of buying from Studs, you can get very good pigeons. But you will only find them by being prepared to loose a lot of the clowns by testing. Obviously if the Stud concerned has a history of producing unhealthy youngsters the ratios will get worse.

Better to breed from your own performace pigeons with the occasional introduction of performace blood to keep the blood lines strong.

this thread has really run its corse  nothing solved slagging louella off nothing to be gained  and at times very unfair to them  maybe they have problems at times but we all have and so have all the other studs in different degrees  i got 6 y/bs off a guy one year a good fancier 2 dropped down dead the next day  the day after another one and i culled the other 3  and they all looked perfect when they came  so who knows thats why i always keep seperated for 5-7 dys
