Hi all ive just bought  a pair of droppers (modenas) ive got them in a nest box away from the loft what precautions should i take before i can introduce them to the loft

be careful as cock modenas can be very aggressive

Hi grizzler i dont have any racers yet but ill keep my eye on them what meds should i give them as i dont whant to introduce my racers to the loft and they catch something

if you don't know what condition they are in then you could ask the person you got them from if they have been treated for anything or to be sure if they do need anything then get some droppings etc tested.

if there is any fanciers close to u ask them if they have any baytril get them to make up 2 liters for u in an empty milk carton keep them on it untill its finished kills everything

Hi i received an email of the breeder :Hi vaccinated for Paratyphoid November,Coxci,Canker Ivormectin for all worms and parasitesin December.

no need to treat for anything then.

It is worth having a routine for testing so when you've got your youngsters weaned and all together send droppings and swabs of for testing and then if required any correct treatment can be given.

Never treat blind especialy as a newbie because you won't have the experience to spot a problem.

I have a pair of modenas also. They are easy to keep just big pigeons though.

 

Can be aggressive when competing with other pigeons for nest boxes

 

yes i believe so ill have to kep my eye on them

yes, take a selection from around the loft.

If you get a test kit they will send you swabs etc as well but basic droppings testing will indicate the overall condition of the birds.
