just seen in this weeks bhw that nrcc are planning an additional race in 2011 from saxa vord. this ontop of adding dunbar in 2009 gives 6 races may - july, instead of four. i think this is very positive and i wish them well. i shall certainly give it my best shot (all being well). am i right in thinking saxa vord is northern tip of shetland isles ?

Yes, that's correct... as far north in the UK as you can go without getting your feet wet.  The journey involves two short ferry crossings as well as the overnight ferry from Aberdeen. I guess you get something like an extra 50 miles on the distance.

 

We raced our yb's from Saxavord.. all of 50 miles, but they do have the two sea crossings

well done that national, gone  the extra yard  for  the  fanciers
