Guest anthony Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Can somebody explain what is the difference between this and normal iodine, can I use normal iodine diluted in water instead?
Guest Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Been puzzled for a while by Lugols, and aqueous iodine sales in pigeon magazines Iodine is not soluble in water. Another chemical e.g. chlorine is added to iodine to make it soluble in water for use as a water disinfectant ... the mixture is called aqueous iodine..
Guest anthony Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Thanks Bruno, can you tell me the % of mixture and what type of chlorine I have to use
Guest Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 Sorry, that is way beyond my knowledge and experience. Chlorine, ammonia and iodine are fairly dangerous substances and mixing them in solution is not something I would advise anyone to try. Purchasing the off-the-shelf aqueous iodine seems safest.
Guest Posted August 16, 2007 Report Posted August 16, 2007 CORKFUL TO A GALLON OF WATER ONCE PER WEEK
David Home Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 I used to mix some aqueous iodine with my garlic mixture I added to the drinker twice a week.
