Potassium Permanganate in Bath Water

Is it ok to use Pattasium Permanganate in the pigeons bath water as i was told to use it by a person by me who is in the raceing club.

Is that the purple stuff they used to call Condy's Crystals? Haven't seen or heard of that in years!

parents and grandparents used to make up a gallon of solution from crystals and then dilute it in the drinkers. The birds wattles always gleamed white, never any respiritory etc either.

i'll have to ask if they still have the recipe, last time i saw it it was written on a piece of paper as old as they are!

most of the old guys still use some of the old stuff and work just as well if not better than some supliments you can get

puple crystals dicky , turns blue when diluted , oldies used to use it with parishes food on return to clean them out and get them back in to condition

Exactly Phil, thats what i remember the old guys doing, making gallon bottles of this at a time! Its a shame but a lot of the old fashioned products / remedies like this seemed to have slipped by the wayside!

no, just fungal infections on the fish

and rose,smelly sore feet,and any fungal problems with your feet,as i work in a bakery,wouldnt be with out it.have you noticed the price as shot up on permanganate,in the bhw

the best way to keep algie away is a good filtration system with UV treatment.

i was told to use some hay in a net & that supposed to soak up the algi

i have used it for years on pigeons in bath water it keeps them clean

also used it on greyhounds feet after racing it hardenes dogs pad and cleans also

Hi, Get some barley straw and tie a bundle as much as your hand can hold. put a weight on to sink it. In a couple of weeks your water will be crystal clear. Better still if you have a filter with a decent size container just pop the bundle in there.
