Guest tomo68 Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 Is it ok to use Pattasium Permanganate in the pigeons bath water as i was told to use it by a person by me who is in the raceing club.
Guest Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 Is that the purple stuff they used to call Condy's Crystals? Haven't seen or heard of that in years!
pjc Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 parents and grandparents used to make up a gallon of solution from crystals and then dilute it in the drinkers. The birds wattles always gleamed white, never any respiritory etc either. Phil
Guest tomo68 Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 I think it is mate i had to get it ordered in at my chemist it cost 99p
Merlin Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 Might not be a bad idea if we could go back to lots of the old ways, and systems.
pjc Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 i'll have to ask if they still have the recipe, last time i saw it it was written on a piece of paper as old as they are! Phil
OLDYELLOW Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 most of the old guys still use some of the old stuff and work just as well if not better than some supliments you can get
OLDYELLOW Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 puple crystals dicky , turns blue when diluted , oldies used to use it with parishes food on return to clean them out and get them back in to condition

Its a shame but a lot of the old fashioned products / remedies like this seemed to have slipped by the wayside!

Guest Freebird Posted July 28, 2008 Report Posted July 28, 2008 Hi Rose will it clean the algi in a fish pond Hi, Get some barley straw and tie a bundle as much as your hand can hold. put a weight on to sink it. In a couple of weeks your water will be crystal clear. Better still if you have a filter with a decent size container just pop the bundle in there.
