I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT IF NEWCASTLE DISEASE VACCINATIONS CARRY ANY RISKS TO THE PIGEONS INJECTED WITH IT. I AM TOLD THERE IS ONLY TWO VACCINES CURRENTLY AVAILABLE AND BOTH ARE INJECTABLE. I AM WANTING TO TAKE THEM ABROAD WITHIN THE E.U. BUT HAVING NEVER INJECTED THEM BEFORE I DO NOT WANT TO VACCINATE THEM AND THEN LOOSE THEM DUE TO COMPLICATIONS.  DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT TAKING PIGEONS ABROAD THAT COULD HELP ME?  MANY THANKS. :-/

Paramyxo vaccination carries no risk provided you follow the instructions.

I doubt you would be allowed to take unvaccinated birds out of the country, or into another; I think you need a vet's certificate too?

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR RESPONSE. HAVE ANY OF YOU ENCOUTERED PROBLEMS WITH THE ACTUAL INJECTING OF A BIRD EITHER FOR GIVING MEDS OR TAKING BLOODS? I GUESS IT'S THE NEEDLE SIDE OF THINGS THAT CONCERN ME THE MOST.

Newcastle Disease and Paramixovirus are the same thing. Be very careful with the injections. You don't want to injure the bird or fail to inject the vaccine into it properly. I think it best to get someone to help you. Preferably, someone who can show you how to do it.

I would also consider vaccination against Paratyphoid. There is a awful lot of this disease around the pigeons these days. You can do both injections at the same time if you organise yourself a bit.
