spot on billy,,,butter and soot was made in 2 a dough and rolled in2 little balls and put down their throats  ;D

dnt know about that m8 as goin bk 30 yr ago when i was visitin my dads friends lofts u nva heard ov it then as much as u do now so summit ov the old hand stuff must ov worked

going back a bit fanciers used to get the soot from the chimney sweeps and scatter it about the garden for the birds to pick at,
