Guest j.bamling Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 dont use preventative with young birds until its coming up to racing, jag for paratyphoid and be done with it prevention doesn't work full stop apart from Injection you can go to the doctors and theres nothing he can give you in tablets which will prevent you getting something a week or a month down the line think about it if it doesn't work for us its not going to work for the pigeons Treat only if you have problems if there are ok leave well alone but i am all for injections for Paramixo & Paratyphoid as they are just like our flu jab and i have takin a jab of that last year and this and touch wood never had flu ;D
adam owen Posted March 30, 2010 Author Report Posted March 30, 2010 thats wat a few people have said thats why im a bit do i dnt i

Guest j.bamling Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 I jab my yb and oldbird racers you can jab your ybs the same time as you jab them for paramixo Mike Ganus of syndicate lofts does his this way 2 jabs one for paramixo & the other for paratyphoid then a 2nd jab for paratyphoid 2 weeks later the paratyphoid vaccine i use is a Live vaccine and you only need to jab them once i do it about a months time

demolition man Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 I will tell you the truth mate i have had to do away with odd ybs along the way which went lame bung wings etc after the injection but iwas happy to do that and still am as they are the carriers which go un noticed but the last few times inc just recently never had any problems Yes i was told this that any that had lumps and bumps around the feet wings eyes were carriers after jabbing. Guest j.bamling Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 No they raced well after the jab its supposed to give them an imunne boost so gives them a lift
adam owen Posted March 30, 2010 Author Report Posted March 30, 2010 i might do it then as a few weeks ago i had it in my stock birds and lost most of them and there ybs
Guest j.bamling Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 Baytril is one of the best to use if you know you have it as this is one of the only products what will cross the blood/brain barrier but only use if you have it
holmsidelofts Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 i might do it then as a few weeks ago i had it in my stock birds and lost most of them and there ybs Hi adam. If you think you've had it you must treat with antibiotics for 10 days prior to vaccinating as you must get rid of it first before vaccinating. As i have said before i have used both live vaccine and the dead vaccine. this year i used the dead vaccine on the old ones this year and did it twice, the birds havent looked better, there was no issues had a fairly successful hatching rate, really looking forward to racing them. Jas
demolition man Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 wats the diff in live to dead one walks one don't ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
