DOVEScot Posted August 10, 2007 Author Report Posted August 10, 2007 think your getting wee bit mixed up here ,, the sacc at the bush estate is not defra [but all these depts must notify defra of notifiable diseases ] the vla is another different dept [ which is mainly for farm animals]at the bush , then there's the dick vet at the bush, the large animal practice at the bush the small animal practice ....all different departments [but all must notify defra of notifiable diseases ] all im saying is you would have been quicker with the sacc as this is their expertise No you are jimmy We're no saying the sacc is defra, the VLA is a part of defra, I phone the bush vetinary clinic about sick pigeon that was on "info please post" as we were heading to penicuik. They directed me to the VLA, who were most helpful, I thought you would know about this department "VLA" with it being on your doorstep Anyway ma pigeons deed, its nestmate is looking healthy, the vet recons its a one off, Chickadees happy, Bruno did his best as usual, and away to ma bed ;D ;D ;D
jimmy white Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 as long as your happy with the result , thats the main thing
Guest Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 The top expert in Scotland is Tom Pennycott ( as bruno says)who works out of a campus close to AYR he is the top avain vet and has helped fanciers regarding various ailments i would have thaught that was the place to send for a pm to find any problems i thaught the place in pentlands was for farm amimals like dolly the sheep(deceased )
Guest Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Do you think ma test results are coatia I'm not questioning the results. Lab doesn't do this work free, and I'm all for you getting your money's worth. If there was something affecting my pigeon's brain, I know I would want to know what it was.

DOVEScot Posted August 10, 2007 Author Report Posted August 10, 2007 The top expert in Scotland is Tom Pennycott ( as bruno says)who works out of a campus close to AYR he is the top avain vet and has helped fanciers regarding various ailments i would have thaught that was the place to send for a pm to find any problems i thaught the place in pentlands was for farm amimals like dolly the sheep(deceased ) Aye fair comment, but when I phoned the royal vet school asking what to do, they put me in touch with the VLA, if I knew about SACC and a number then I would have contacted them, a lot of people would have put the pigeon in the bin
jimmy white Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 It was them that put me onto the VLA " if i knew about the sacc i would have contacted them",,,surely a contridiction ,,i spoke withthe dr. manager of the s,a,c,c today frid ,,,showed him the the thread and his comment was "no one from this dept put anyone in touch with the V.L.A regarding a pigeon for pm."

jimmy white Posted August 12, 2007 Report Posted August 12, 2007 Jimmy What's your point,,,,,,,fact One; Are you making me oot to be a liar, not the best idea you've had,,one,, sounds like a threat? i am not making you out to be a liar, but that you may have been mistaken on the vets wordage Two; I never mentioned the sacc it was the Royal vet 0131 650 100, they told me to contact 0131 535 3130, they told me to contact 0131 445 6169 which turned out to be the VLA two,,,,,,,,,,,,, read post 46 jw Three; you would be better help if you posted the vets comments on the diagnosis,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, , vet cant comment without seeing and testing the bird jw Four; for future reference, you keep telling us about your contacts why not just share your knowledge and post the names and contact numbers,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,four ,,if you check back my posts youll see ive shared my knowledge with many members of this forum ,i,e get their droppings tested at the s,a,c,c,at the bush estate and post mortems done , my contacts are well known to many forum members, also had free advice from a top avian vet from the s,a,c,c . for forum members if i had known of your problem i would have been the first to help, so i think your being a wee bit unfair jw
DOVEScot Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 " if i knew about the sacc i would have contacted them",,,surely a contridiction ,,i spoke withthe dr. manager of the s,a,c,c today frid ,,,showed him the the thread and his comment was "no one from this dept put anyone in touch with the V.L.A regarding a pigeon for pm." I beleive that you cantacted the sacc, just don't see the point in quetioning whether I had contacted them, then posting the above So I ask again Jimmy whats your point Why not post the number of the SACC for us all to use please and save further confusion
jimmy white Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Any body heard of a pigeon form of meningitis before? went up to sacc to find out about this ..... main office 0131 535 4000 a good debate is CONstructive and what the forum is about , but a bad debate is DEstructive . found no evidence that a pigeon can have a form of meningitis ,, this is my findings and my opinion ,,anyone else is entitled to have their opinions tom pennicott works in liason with the sacc ,,,top vet with pigeons and gentleman.my advice would be to ask him
DOVEScot Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 a good debate is CONstructive and what the forum is about , but a bad debate is DEstructive . found no evidence that a pigeon can have a form of meningitis ,, this is my findings and my opinion ,,anyone else is entitled to have their opinion Thans for the info, So all threads should remain CONstructive, what about INstructive, REstructive, surely if someone is ill-informing us on the site then we have the right to be DEstructive The part of the debate that went destructive is when you did, and still are questioning my statements and findings, and trying to make out I am lying or ill- informing members about meningitis in pigeons Just because you can't find meningitis does not mean it does not exist, after all you did not know about Defra/VLA right on your door step Is your opion more than a report from the top vet at Defra/VLA The main thing is I want to know what was wrong with my pigeon, if the top vets don't know or giving false diagnosis then we are all in trouble Are you saying your expert knows nothing about meningitis in pigeons Would help if you answered the whole of the post
