dovescot did the vet tell you how the birds catch meningitis? Would have been first question would have asked

The bird was still in the nest box about 24 days old, it was a report, not able to talk to vet yet

no way would thaty have been the reason why the bird caught menigitis sorry to say and if that was his answer  would have been pretty shocked, and would have question if he was an avian vet  :-/ :-/ sorry noticed u edited your post

if its the  at the s,a c c [as theres lots of places at the bush estate ] i know the doctor quite well [the boss :)] could you possibly name the vet?

wasnt questioning that before you edited your post you didnt have that you hadnt spoken to vet yet, so therefore when you replied i thought you was quoting what the vet said was the cause! Just a bit of confusion

You need to know the name of the causative agent rather than the name of the disease.

Human Meningitis is really a group of different diseases, some viral, some bacterial. You'll recognise two names tho : herpesvirus and streptococcus [enterococcus] as pigeon pathogens, the 'human' versions of which can cause meningitis in humans.

Interesting.  :)

its actually quite dangerously the opposite,, humans can get meningitis from pigeon droppings ,,,mind you ive been scraping lofts a long time , never caught it yet  :)

thats what i said bruno ;D ;D but in simpler terms ;D ;D ;Dooooh ;D
