Could some one please tell me what i need to give my birds in terms of vacinations ie worms ticks etc and when these should be given any help would be appreciated if you are racing this year para vacination is a must do,worms is a bit of a debate some do it every 6 weeks [like canker in some cases ;D ;D ;D]some not at all?ticks/redmite if the birds are moving around/stamping at night then yes spray the loft out/bathe the birds with some crushed garlic in the water[well some do]i am pretty sure there are more guys on here with a better idea than me, i just worm/canker at the start of the year
Merlin Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 Two tips I would recommend to any fancier, stay away from sprays, use a blow torch on a weekly basis in loft, boxs perchs, floors, use Hydrogen Peroxide 3% in drinking and bath waters, again on a regular basis, stay as close to Nature as you can

Guest IB Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 Annual vaccination against paramyxovirus is mandatory - you've got to do that if you intend to race or show racing pigeons. Everything else is optional.
DUBLINFLYER Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 yup ur dead rite..... i also said dont inject anything that you dnt have to!!!!!!! :-/ and as you just stated you have to inject for paramyxo

Guest IB Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 thanks for the replys where do i get this vacination done will the club have details on this im not part of one as yet as im unsure as to where they are here i used to race when i was 15 and im awaiting news from the rpra as to if i need to register again and some details of the clubs around here thanks again There are a number of different arrangements. Clubs may have their own vaccination programme where someone does the whole club - or one or two fanciers who will do it for their clubmates, like ours. A clubmate did it for me for years until he gave up the sport, and I had to learn to do it myself. Have done my own for a couple of years now, and last year I did a clubmate's YBs. The vaccine is available by post from Pigeon Pharmacy or Meditech or Boddy & Ridewood. It is complete with syringe and needles. The minimum size is sufficient for 50 birds [if you have a small team, it is best to share] and costs around £17. It has a use-by date, normally within one year.
