Birds Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Does anyone know the dosage of potassium phosphate for treatment of feather rot?
Guest shadow Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 malthion from the chemist is better just use a cotten bud to cover the skin is used for treating scabies in humans never found potassium very effective :) :)
Birds Posted May 19, 2009 Author Report Posted May 19, 2009 Thanks I will give that a try. I have tried the copper sulphate bath which was also recommended but the feather rot appears to be showing signs in other pigeons now too. Eager to get this under control.
Guest Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Get some Carbolic Soap on them, Abit of a mess but it works
Birds Posted May 19, 2009 Author Report Posted May 19, 2009 It certainly looks like it checked it against one of the pigeon medical books.
Birds Posted May 19, 2009 Author Report Posted May 19, 2009 I will get carbolic soap and give that a try - desperate to get to the bottom of it. Thanks.
pjc Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 check all drinkers and feeders for sharp edges and remember no cure will work over night and you wn't see any difference until the birds moult out the damaged feathers.
