mobster Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 i have this problem with one of my breeder hen. when it is time to lay its egg, a certain flesh from inside its hole comes out which was the reason the the wont come out. i pressed the this flesh( is that what you called it or intestine?) inside by my finger and that is the only time it lays its egg. the problem is everytime it breeds im having hard time looking, waiting and helping for her to lay its egg. is there any solution for this problem? or do you have any experience like this? best regards gary
Guest shadow Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 It sounds as if this bird is prone to a prolapse of the rectum when laying and there is no cure apart from not breeding from her and moving her on. fly hard fly fair
snowy Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 is there plenty of grit? as hens can become egg bound if egg shells to soft. i wouldnt breed from this hen again if this isnt the case, she could die.
Guest Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Agree with Shadow that this is likely to be a prolapse, where the egg instead of falling free from the internal oviduct (egg-laying tube), snags & pulls it outside the bird's body. Bird has suffered internal physical damage at some time in the past and the condition will worsen over time.
jimmy white Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 IVE HAD THAT BEFORE , AGREE WITH BOTH POSTS ABOVE, EVENTUALLY THE HEN WILL DO DAMAGE TO ITS SELF, AGREE WITH SHADOW ITS A PROLAPSE OF THE RECTUM, BUT AS FAR AS SOFT SHELL EGGS , WHICH CAN BE A SHORTAGE OF CALCIUM, BUT NOT ALLWAYS , I HAD ONE THAT ALLWAYS LAID SOFT SHELLED EGGS , AND WHEN I ASKED ARMAND SHCEERS, IN BROKEN ENGLISH , HE REPLIED, SOMETING WRONG WITH ITS EGG LAYING MACHINARY,[ SORRY BRUNO DIDNT SEE YUR POST WHEN I POSTED MINE, BUT AGREE]
mobster Posted January 26, 2006 Author Report Posted January 26, 2006 thanks for the reply guys. maybe i will just stop breeding this hen. actually i just bought this from a fancier here and he honestly told me the problem.
mobster Posted January 31, 2006 Author Report Posted January 31, 2006 i noticed that this hen of mine becomes thin as days goes by. ive administered a wormer and the day after what i saw was almost 2 tablespoon of worm.. dead thin long woms. does this be the problem why she cannot lay or having a hard time laying its egg?
jimmy white Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 SORRY TO SAY MOBTER, YOUR BIRDS ARE IN NO CONDITION TO BREED
mobster Posted February 3, 2006 Author Report Posted February 3, 2006 Mis read what u put mobster thought u said the bird u bought off him was riddled with worms you didnt mis read it rose. the worm came from that hen of mine after i dewormed her. now she is in good conditon . maybe im going to give her a rest in breeding.
