Guest Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 I am very interested in the baby milk powder and I intend to use it in the water as soon as I wean the YB's into the YB loft, as I feel that this is a time when the babies are under stress and tend not to eat as much as they should for a few days and I feel that baby milk powder in the water will give them some needed nourishment Has anyone any comments on this for or against Thankyou
Peckedhen Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 I'm weaning mine on Thursday Linda.......how much baby milk will you put in the water? Also do you leave food down for them all day or twice a day? :-/ :-/
Guest Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 Hi sue I'm not sure how much, I was hoping Jimmy white would step in and tell me I never leave food down for the birds all day except for the breeders. If you get them into a routine of once a day feeding they will be good and hungry and hopefully eat everything you put down for them. I feed about one ounce and a quarter per bird per day.
Guest Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 Peckedhen - Its 2no. scoops (mixed and shaken in a bottle) to 2no. litres of water.
MsPigeon Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 Linda and Sue, I found that useing it at weaning time was better and the YB's actually preferred it to plain water. My reason for not useing it in the breeding loft in the water was too much was going to waste as it is necessary to change it at least once daily with the milk in it. It gets kinda yucky and settles to the bottom. But I am useing some stuff in a can that it already mixed and I use about a TBLSP to a Qt of water. I found that my YB's have not gone through any weaning set backs. Carol
