jimmy white Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 my main concern would be going back in to your own lofts , wear differant clothes alltogether, and a good wash [dont mean that in a bad way ] differant shoes, as far as the lads birds go, i can see your worried , its very difficult on line , without seeing the birds , but virkon s in water would at least help stop things get worse, even milton , which contains bleach, [very little] would help, but would it not be possible to ask any of your local good fanciers for their advice, it would probably be wise to take the worst to the vet ,,but that would cost,,,but would maybe worth it in the end,, hope you get things sorted westy , try not to worry its not your fault ,,just be very carefull with your own
Guest WINGS 04 Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 WESTY IF IT WAS ME I WOULD NOT FEED OR GIVE THEM ANY WATER FOR 1DAY THEN GIVE THEM SOME WATER WITH SUGAR4 TABEL SPOONS AND SALT 1 TEA SPOON THEN AT NIGHT GIVE SOME FOOD SMALL SEEDS
Guest Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 Don't want to complicate the picture - lots of advice there - but I'd recommend a holding job Westy. Hold things down until the owner comes back. Be safe, think safe. Watch you don't spread a problem into your own loft and birds. Simple wash yer hands job, and a different pair of shoes [don't walk problem in] will do the trick. With respect to other posts on treatment: would recommend any household or easy to get 'harmless but beneficial' remedy from the following: Garlic, or cider vinegar [in water] daily till bloke comes back, or natural yoghurt [live stuff] on the feed, for three days.. Good luck & best wishes.
Guest speckled Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 hy west calm down, could be the heat thats doing it it to them, as we all no are self what it like in the hot weather, so just cause thay are birds dont mean thay dont feel it to. try a little ryhadration salts in the water, for 5 days ya can get them from boots, at he cost of £2.99 for a sachet of 6.Uif thay are not in any way being sick just a light depurative mix will help.Well ya now yourself, :-/ yu dont wont to eat a big roast dinner in this heat,so do the birds really need to have full corn this heat, but like thay say wear diffrent shoes in ya own loft as the worse case, if the coci is the reason for these birds its easliy spead from the loft to loft just be observant of ya own birds mate,it not ya falut could be like i said heat sydrome. chin up mate Speck ;)
westy Posted July 21, 2006 Author Report Posted July 21, 2006 took a locals advice and used garlic hopefully it will do the trick all looking well now.
THE FIFER Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 ARE THEY GETTING OUT, IF SO THEY COULD BE EATING PLANTS WHICH ARE NOT AGREEING WITH THEM, PUT SOME VINAGAR IN THE WATER, AND DONT FEED FOR A DAY, THIS COULD DRY THEM UP, IF ITS NOTHING SERIOUS.MAKE SURE THEY ARE GETTING PLENTY LIQUIDS (WATER WITH VINAGAR)
bewted Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 westy,i think problem is the heat more than something wrong, watery droppings could be excess drinking, dont worry, all will work out,be observant and dont stress,,,ted
jimmy white Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 westy, i noticed the lad has 60 odd tumblers,,,what size is his loft, if the loft was not big enough, it could be the heat adding to stress, which can lead to infection ,which often leads to secondry infection , if it was just the heat, everyones birds would be like that, but electrolytes same as reheydration salts, would do no harm, as long as they look reasonable now, the owner should be back soon ,youve done your best,so he can take over after that,,,,,,dont worry its not your fault
