gaunt6 Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 Can someone explain how and wear to give a pigeon an injection ?
mO Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 First it takes 2 people, one to hold the bird and one to stick the needle in. You also need witnesses to sign to say they have had the legal amount from a recognised in date batch of vaccine. I inject my birds and other members birds too, but the above still stands! That said, usually someone within your club will be prepared to assist, or may even be appointed to the job, have you asked at your club? They may need to be paid? Try your club mates, if they cann't or wont help, try this forum and give nearset town location and we may be able to find someone to do it for you are demonstrate how its done, thats how I Learnt.
Guest shadow Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 Have some one hold the pigeon and put the needle just under the skin at the base of the neck but make sure it is witnessed etc. as per the regulations.
gaunt6 Posted July 28, 2006 Author Report Posted July 28, 2006 tHANKS VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP. i DON'T BELONG TO A CLUB AS YET. i TRIED WHAT YOU SAID ON A FEW AND IT SEEMED TO WORK FINE SO FAR. THANKS AGAIN.
jimmy white Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 i agree with above, but would be very carefull withe that needle,,,better to basket birds then inject and put back in loft one at a time,,,,,,the reason im saying that is,i was injecting a famous nat winners birds, inside the loft , where he ws catching them i was injecting, and he was putting them in the next section, now this is true ;D ;D ;D, im sure he would verify this ;D ;D ;D he bent over to catch a bird on the corner of the floor,i was standing [needle in hand, loaded]with the needle pointing away from me, looking at the birds on the perches, as he bent over , his butt stuck in to the needle ;D he wasnt bothered too much but his wife made him go to the a and e of local hosp, but every thing was ok, so it goes to show how carefull you should be. p.s ;D ;D got a bit worried next day when he started cooing ,and moulting ;D ;D ;D ;D, but above is true ;D ;D ;D
