abbeypap Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 I would like to know more about it, without having to bend LSH ear all the time. It's a Kirkland yellow pied, was called Saffron then I found out she is a he so now called Mel. Anyway, what kind of racing are Kirkland pigeons for? sprint, middle, or distance? How do I breed the same colour? If he was to be crossed with another family/strain what would be the best to use? I know everyone has different opinions but thats ok, I'll read them all. ps. Mel was a gift and will get out to fly next week for the first time.
pjc Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Kirklands are distance birds. If it is a cockbird and you want to breed yellows then pair it to a red hen.

Willow Thanks Willow, he has been out flying round the loft and you can spot him a mile away in the sky, even when he flies out with the van reet pieds he really stands out. Already had LSH put out his old birds to bring him back to the loft the first time he strayed out of sight. First race next year will be absolutely nerve racking, if he makes it though the training. LOL
