jimmy white Posted October 30, 2007 Report Posted October 30, 2007 its true mite come out a tnight,,or better to say in the dark [they can be close to the birds body under the wing looking for a darker place ,and irritating them but equally true , if their on the bird , they will trouble them during the day,, usually seen by the dancing, stamping, and back healing , but again it could be any flea or insect bothering them ...put a third of a bottleof duromitex in a bucket of warm water and douse them all , in the summer would put them out to dry [not on the line ] but in the winter , in the basket for an hour in the house [and put the wife in the loft for an hour,,,with a scraper ;D ;D ;D] two jobs done at once ;D ;D
Elvan Willgrass Posted November 15, 2007 Author Report Posted November 15, 2007 Now that the birds are just about through the moult I took weecunny’s advice and painted the birds legs with a feather, I used paraffin as I had some and thought it would do the same job and it did, no more problems and I did the whole flock just in case.
