traynor Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 i noticed yesterday that one of mt youngsters in the nest has a pertruding lump on its leg on the outside of the thigh area which is full of fluid. the youngster in itself is sound nothing else wrong with it when i touch the lump it does not hurt the youngster, its jumping in and out of its nest bowl and running around the nest box looking for food of the parents. its about 19/20 days old, any ideas. i thought that maybe it was bitten by a mosqiuto as there are a lot of them around with the humid weather.
ChrisMaidment08 Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 can you take photo is it on joint or leg is it hard sooft red pink
the pigeon_milker Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 maybe a mosquito bite how big is the lump may have knocked it jumping or a abscess keep your eye on it and keep it clean see if gets better
traynor Posted August 1, 2008 Author Report Posted August 1, 2008 the lump its self is very soft as it has a lot fluid inside, the colour is yellowish but when i looked at the other leg the skin was a yellowish colour it is around the joint area and about the circumference of a two pence piece it isnt bothering the bird at all, there is no scab on or around it so thats why i suggested a bite
