You need a Vet because we on this Forum can only guess at the cause of your problem. And we could be causing you to waste valuable time in getting proper treatment for your bird. However it does sound like a classic case of severe cocci. If I am right you can be sure that all your birds will be infected. I think you need help and quickly.

thanks for the replies guys   i have just been reading up on cocci on the net and it said that cocci thrives in damp conditions so i thought i would check my loft for damp ( i know i should have done it b4) and ive just noticed a damp patch on the front corner of my loft which has spread onto some perches  one of these perches belongs to the cock bird affected with bloody/watery dropping so i am going to treat all my birds for cocci but also get their droppings tested again  can anyone tell me what is the best meds to use to treat cocci and any websites that can send it to me asap?  your help is appreciated   debbie

ps i treated my birds with appertex a few months ago so either it didnt work or the recent rain/damp patch has caused it to return

If you've already treated for cocci, I would be surprised if that was what was wrong with your bird.

Blood could be misleading - it may be splashed on, rather than in, the droppings, maybe the bird was bloodied while fighting? or even one of those 'fatty lumps' bursting [right messy job]. Look to see if the perch wall is splashed with blood.

Don't treat blind, if it still persists tomorrow, then get the bird checked out.

looks like youve did your homework dj, :),, my advice would be ,,wait for the droppings test results, then treat accordingly,, prevention is  often better than cure :),, as you say, dampness is a haven for cocci, even worms etc

get him looked at but still do not rule cocci out it depends on what you treated with to keep the cocci down

ive just been back into loft and its definately bloody/watery droppings not a burst fatty lump or from any fighting  ive ordered some easicox from hyperdrug.com anyway as ive already got harkers ascapilla for worms and flagyl tablets for canker in the cupboard   if the droppings test then comes back as cocci i can treat them straight away  i treated my birds with appertex last time for cocci so thought i would try a different med this time so my birds wont become immune to one type of med  thanks to everone who replied with advice   debbie
